These are horses that are listed as kid broke by their owners. I do not know the horses in question, so please carefully assess the horses before allowing your children to ride them. |
The list is color coded to try to help you figure out where the horses are located and contact information.
A pink highlight indicates the number of the horse on the list.
A green highlight indicates the location (usually city and state).
A blue highlight indicates the contact information.
A purple highlight indicates special circumstances.

From: ezarkos@hanaeleh.com
Subject: Los Angeles, CA: 15 hand QH Gelding- Gus- good lesson horse
To: post@hanaelehhorses.posterous.com
Gus Gus is a fleabitten grey, probably QH gelding. He's about 14.3- 15 hands. He had an abusive owner who tried to hurt him on purpose to get the vet to put him down, then called us and told us he was going to send him to slaughter if we didn't take him. We didn't have room at that time, but a wonderful woman named Donna took him in.
Donna is having financial difficulties and can no longer keep Gus Gus. He is currently being used in a lesson program and is a great for the kids. He needs someone around 140-150 lbs or lighter- so a woman or lighter man can ride him. He cannot have shavings in his stall (he is allergic to them). I would love to find
someone who can take this poor boy. My goal would to find a wonderful home who would be able to take a good horse without us having to take him in- there would be no adoption fee but the new owners would sign a contract so we would have first right-of-refusal. I would hate to see this poor boy somehow get shifted from owner to owner and end up in danger again.
If you are interested in Gus Gus, please contact me either by e-mail or phone (below). Donna has created a Facebook page for him if you want to see his beautiful picture: https://apps.facebook.com/horse_book/profile/view/10393511
Please feel free to crosspost! Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I want to add my thanks to Mike's to all of you for your words of support and encouragement. We're just so busy with his treatments - two hour round trips daily plus just about a full day spent at the hospital that we just don't have time to write back to each and every one of you. But, please know that we're very grateful to have you all behind us as we fight this thing. We're taking each day as it comes and will continue to do so for as long as Mike wants to.
Yes, we're trying to place as many horses as possible as soon as possible. I'm attachng a flyer that gives only very basic info on most of the horses we're "pushing". Please feel free to copy and post it anywhere you think people will see it - send it on through your emails, facebook, twitter, etc.
We've had an overwhelming response to our plea for volunteers while the college kids are gone. My daughter, Amy, has volunteered to coordinate that for me as I just don't have time to call everyone. If you can help out, you can reach her at aramirez@fibertech.com (aramirez @ fibertech.com) or by phone at 585-905-1579. I'm also attaching a copy of the schedule we have that takes us through the end of the month. (Those that have "exp" after them know how to handle horses). As you can see, we can use more help. Especially people who know how to handle horses as quite a few of them need riding (footing permitting) and/or just walking around to get them out of the pastures for a little while. They're also not really getting groomed or their hooves cleaned out because most of the
people we have helping either don't know how to do it or are only here for the one hour of feeding time. Mucking is also a need.
Again, thank you all for being there. We couldn't have placed all those horses without your help. Now we need to find homes for those remaining with us.
Chris

#1- Registered Appaloosa. Kiss My Color, born 1995. Daughter of Zips Dude. She has a proven record of throwing color!!! We can email you pictures! This horse is quiet and amazing with kids.
#2- Dusty, POA- Gelded son of Kiss my Color. grandson of Zips Dude. We have his paper work, but have never taken the time to mail in his registration. Halter broke, has had a kid on his back since birth. But we haven't had time to work with him. He has perfect confirmation! Small head. Beautiful color on this boy!!
#3- Alladin, Unregistered Pryor Mt Mustang Gelding. this horse holds my heart, he is an amazing beautiful horse! Tiger striped legs, primitive line down the back and shadowed shoulders. Big boned, Perfect hooves, never need a farrier! I have halter broke him, but sadly I have not had the time to go further with him. He has a natural curiosity that makes him a quick learner.
#4- Little Red, Apricot Dun, Gelded son of Kiss My Color and horse #3. This horse is also amazingly special, and has SO much potential!! He has been halter broke and led around by my 4.5 year old! He listens to her every word and stops on a dime! Great horse!! He has his father's primitive markings. Perfect hooves, no farrier needed! This is my 2nd daughters horse.
#5- Rain, the unregistered, daughter of Kiss My Color and horse #3. She is a beauty! All dark, no white at all. She also has the primitive markings of her father. Halter broke. and again perfect hooves!

I received an update that the ponies are all safe BUT, the 3 horses noted (pictures attached) are still at risk of being put down. These horses were boarders that had been left behind on the property.
All 3 had their feet done today. The two older ones would be great for kids to be around and the Arab gelding is very sweet and gentle, would make a great companion horse.

There are 28 ponies and 3 horses in need of rescue ASAP as the owner has fallen ill and can no longer take care of them. If you can help with even 1 or 2, please see the above contact info. They are being fed but the conditions are bad and all need to be placed quickly. The health dept. has already been out. Most of the ponies hooves are overgrown so wil need some work in that area. Some of the ponies are registered shetlands but the owner doesn't know where the papers are. It sounds like there might be a few minis also.
Horses in Pictures
1st is arab gelding, big boy 15/16 hands. 12/15yrs maybe hip problem. fat thou.
