Shamrock is a 15.2 hh, 10 yr old, paint gelding. He is the sweetest horse around and gets along great with other horses. We are adopting him out as a companion only due to an old injury in his hock. He is a great horse that has a lot of love to give! Shamrock is blind in one eye but it does not seem to bother him at all! He is located in NY.

HRU had both a very positive and awful day today. Sierra, the fiesty TB mare that most have come to love and drool over, has finally found her forever home and will be moving to Connecticut in the next two weeks!
Then, within a few hours, we found ourselves notified of THREE adopted horses being returned. Go Gaitor Go and Cheyenne Shane are currently heading back to New Jersey from North Carolina, and Unique Cookie, currently in Indiana, needs to find placement once again as well.
HRU now finds ourselves in desperate need of both homes and donations.
Here are descriptions of our current horses in need of homes- please take a look:
UNIQUE COOKIE- 7 year-old 15.2hh bay STB mare- nice trail/pleasure horse- needs intermediate rider- CURRENTLY IN INDIANA!
Unique Cookie is a former Standardbred racehorse who has had two foals. She has excellent ground manners and is nice under saddle. Unique is currently in Indiana and available for adoption within the US.
CHEYENNE SHANE- 3 year-old 16.3hh bay STB gelding- great trail/pleasure horse for advanced beginner/intermediate rider.
Shane was in training to be a harness racer. He is a very nice trail or pleasure horse for an advanced beginner/intermediate rider. Shane is coming back to New Jersey and is available for adoption within the US.
GO GAITOR GO- 6 year-old 15.2hh chestnut TB mare- all-around horse for advanced beginner/intermediate rider.
Go is currently under evaluation after being out on trial at a trail riding facility. She is a bit nervous in certain situations, but should make a nice all-around horse. Go is coming back to New Jersey and will be available for adoption within the US.
JASMINE'S JOY- 14 year-old 15.1hh dark bay STB mare- beginner-safe kids' leadline or intermediate pleasure/trail horse.
Jasmine is an owner surrender who absolutely ADORES children. She would make the perfect child's leadline pony. Very calm and beginner-safe riding on leadline- needs an intermediate rider off leadline or on trails since she is more forward. Jasmine is currently in New Jersey and available for adoption within the US.
GLEASON- 4 year-old 16.3hh bay STB gelding- great trail/pleasure/endurance horse for intermediate rider.
Gleason was on his way to being a harness racer when an injury cut his career short. He is perfectly sound for riding, just not racing or competitive jumping.
Gleason is very handsome and a GREAT mover. He has lots of potential as a riding horse, particularly for endurance, pleasure, and trails. Rides W-T-C nicely. Gleason is currently in New Jersey and available for adoption within the US.
We also have Trolley under our care, but she is currently in recovery from surgery and will not be placed in a forever home until she is ready. Until then, she is in GREAT need of sponsors: http://www.horserescueunited1.com/hrusponsor.pdf
HRU horses are available to approved homes within the US and are fully evaluated and UTD on everything.
PLEASE VISIT http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=176113&id=526240278 to see photos and videos of our current horses!

Horses need homes!

Posted by: "BHFER" bhfer@earthlink.net   horsn4fun

Wed Oct 26, 2011 5:14 pm (PDT)
I'm happy to report that Baby Girl is doing better each day. Dr. Morton (UF) discussed her progress and status with Lee (KESMARC) yesterday and Baby Girl will have 4 additional hyperbaric chamber treatments - one every other day - she had her 6th treatment yesterday. She is basically being treated as an I.C.U. (Intensive Care Unit) patient. When she returns to the rescue she will need the continued around the clock quality care that she receives now. With this in mind, we are looking for homes for horses here that are
ready for new forever homes in order to free up time and resources that would help in Baby Girl's recovery process. Below is a list of some of the horses that are ready for adoption. Please feel free to cross post the information on your Facebook wall, share via other networking channels, etc. The adoption fees are low - it isn't about money - it's about finding them good, caring, loving forever homes. All of the horses listed are up to date on everything.

Arabian/QH Cross: 10 years old - Adoption Fee: $200
Prince is a 15.2 hh chestnut Arabian gelding. He has good ground manners and is healthy and sound. Prince needs refresher training – natural horsemanship methods only. We were informed that he used to be a games horse but have no way to verify this. He's being ridden around the neighborhood by his foster mom and is doing great but he does need a confident rider at this time.

Thoroughbred: 3 Years Old - Adoption Fee: $200
Buttercup is a 3 year old Thoroughbred chestnut filly that came to us as a 2 week old orphan foal. She is about 15:1 hh and still growing. She is ready to start her training (natural horsemanship methods only). Buttercup is an alpha mare and has a "me first!" attitude but is quick to learn - she loves to please and then be rewarded with attention. She will need a confident and experienced handler and trainer - she can be a handful if you let her! She is very beautiful and loves attention. She stands well for grooming, bathing, for the vet and farrier.

QH/Arabian Cross: DOB: August 2010 - Adoption Fee: $200
Morning Star is a very handsome QH/Arabian cross chestnut gelding with a beautiful flaxen mane - he is a curious and bright boy! We expect him to be about 14:2 hh when fully grown. He halters and leads well, is good for the farrier and stands to be groomed - he loves attention. He's ready to start ground play (natural horsemanship methods only). He's quick to learn and has a very nice disposition. Morning Star was born here at the rescue – his mom is one of the sweetest mares you could ever meet! The first picture is of Reva (his mom) and Morning Star is on the right. They are both beautiful - inside and out!

Mini Mare: DOB: March 1988 - Adoption Fee: $150
Peaches is a Cremello that is about 34" tall. She is an alpha mare and a very sweet girl. She halters and leads, stands to be groomed, and bathed, is good for the farrier. Peaches is a very healthy girl and up to date on everything - she is ready for a new home as a pasture pal - she is not to be ridden (none of our mini's are to be ridden).

Thoroughbred: DOB: Nov 2009 - Adoption fee: $200
Legacy is one of the nicest geldings you could meet! He was raised here at the rescue - his mom died when he was a couple of weeks old. He's in great health and is simply beautiful! He is haltered trained and leads well, stands for the farrier and to be groomed and bathed. He is approx 15.3 hh and still growing. He's loves attention and likes to learn new things. He's an "in your pocket" boy.
--
Quarter Horse: 3 Years old - Adoption Fee: $250
Baby Ray is a 3 year old Buckskin about 14:3 hh who was born with congenital cataracts that were removed at UF when he was 6 months old. With proper training (natural horsemanship methods only), handling, and trust he will make a great trail horse. He is very smart, curious, and craves attention.
He can see but he doesn't focus well within about a 40' diameter circle around him. You wouldn't know this unless someone told you - he runs and plays and has a great time.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2131154603769&set=o.233082134196&type=1&ref=nf
--
Thoroughbred: 3 years old - Adoption Fee: $200 Silver Belle is a beautiful 3 year old gray Thoroughbred filly that came to us at about 5 months old with an untreated chest injury that healed just fine. She is about 15 hh and is ready to start her training (natural horsemanship methods only) and will make her own human very proud. She has a wonderful disposition and is willing to learn and please. Silver Belle is on the left and Buttercup is on the right in the picture below.
--

Quarter Horse: DOB: Nov 1992 - Adoption fee: $250
Nash was a barrel racer in his younger years but no more - he is being adopted out as a pleasure/trail horse or baby sitter only. Our daughter takes him riding around the neighborhood and he seems to enjoy it. He is about 15:1 hh. He's got a great mind and disposition. Being a retired barrel racer, he does like to go and needs a confident Intermediate rider. He's healthy and has a very pleasant disposition. He's an easy keeper that would love to have his own family.
--
Friesian Cross: Age: 22 - Adoption Fee: $250
Mystical stands at around 15 hh. She will need refresher (natural horsemanship methods only) training. We were told she rode nicely before coming to the rescue but we have not ridden her yet. She's pretty much a one person horse but once she gains your trust she'll do what is asked. She will halter and lead and she stands for baths and grooming.
--
QH/Cross: Early 20's - Adoption Fee: $150
Nikole is a very gentle sweet mare rescued in August 2011. She was severely underweight and malnourished. She is about 15:3hh. We believe Nikole has Cushing's and she gets compounded pergolide which we get from a pharmacy for about $30 per month. She halters, leads, and stands good for farrier, and
loves baths and being groomed. She is being adopted as a pasture pal only. She is low in the pecking order.
--
Arabian Cross: Senior - Adoption fee: $150
Asiya is a dark bay Arabian cross in her mid 20's and is about 14:2 hh. She is in good health and would make a nice pasture pal, babysitter or a young child's trail horse. She has a very sweet disposition and no special needs. She is good for the vet and farrier and will stand all day to be groomed. She will greet you at the gate. We've ridden Asiya under saddle at a walk and she did great! She does neck rein and is an easy keeper.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2131162923977&set=o.233082134196&type=1&ref=nf
--

Palomino: DOB: 2004 - Adoption fee: $175
Joy is a very sweet mare. She has had some handling and is kind, smart, and willing. However, she does not like her feet being trimmed - she needs someone with patience to work with her on this. With proper training (natural horsemanship methods only), handling, and trust she will make a nice trail horse. Joy is about 14.2 hh.
--
Cloud Dancer has been adopted and the adoptive parents (thank you Teddi and John!) also took Chico and Lobo to foster. We weaned Cloud from Glory about a month ago and they are both doing great - Glory had stayed at foster mom Pam's and Cloud came back to the rescue. He made friends with Chico and Lobo and the 3 of them became very close - where one was, the others weren't far away. Teddi and John will likely adopt Chico and Lobo too. J Cloud is the white fuzz ball that looks like a lamb. Chico is Lobo's sire - Lobo and Cloud have become like brothers and Chico watches over them.
--

If anyone is interested in any of the horses please email me at bhfer@earthlink.net (bhfer @ earthlink.net). I'm not at the computer much so please give me a few hours to get back to you. If we can place some of these horses into good homes it would be great - it will free up time and resources that will be much needed when Baby Girl gets back. Thank you!
PS - I snapped this picture of Baby Girl and one of our volunteers, Linda, yesterday. Baby Girl seems full of energy and I bet she can't wait to get out to run and play again. She gets hand walked and she really enjoys that. She will get her next treatment in the chamber tomorrow. Many thanks to everyone for all of your continued support!
Sincerely,
Theresa

Bronco is a retired bronc.  He is a gentle horse when he trusts the person workign with him.  Bronco came in emaciated and with some wounds that needed healing.  He is and has been ridden and does well with an experienced rider.  This would not be a horse for a beginner.  He leads well and is very responsive to commands.  The farrier had no problems with him when his feet were done.  Bronco gets on with other horses and is courteous to people.  He still needs to gain some weight and is hoping to find a home of his own to one day belong to.

--

Chabliss is a nice mare.  She is approximately 10-14 years old.  She has a cloudy spot on her left eye.  Chabliss has just come back from 6 weeks of training with our trainor and is rideable.  She does need a very experienced rider and someone who can take her further with her training.  She is a bit shy at first but can be handled with an experienced person.  Chabliss is a solid horse.  The farrier had not problem doing her feed.  She does need a very experienced equine handler.  She hopes for a home of her own to take her further with her training and to allow her to become the horse she deserves to be.

--

China is a 9 year old bay mare that needs an experienced rider. She is gentle to handle, good with the farrier. Please email and request our equine application for further info!

--

Dreamer is a sweetheart! She is easy to handle and easy for the farriers. Please email and ask us for an equine application for further info!

--

Hank is a stunning 20 year ol paint gelding.  He is easy to hanldle and comes right up to you.  His gait is stunning to say the least, truly poetry in motion.  Hank needs an intermediate to expericed rider.  He is up to date with all things including his coggins.  His adoption donation is $300.00

--

Marguerite is a stunning looking 12 year old mare.  She is hard to catch sometimes.  She gets on well with other horses and stands well for the farrier.  She also leads and loads very well.  She does need an experienced rider to work with her.  She wants to please but she can also be headstrong sometimes.

--

Maude is a beautiful Paso Fino girl that will need an experienced rider.  She comes from a breeding farm and is 6-8 years old.She is sometimes hard to catch but very gentle when caught. She is good with the farrier.

--

Mr. Butts is a standard bred gelding.  He is approximately 3 years old and loves attention.  He is rideable and would be a good horse for an intermediate to experienced rider.  He is easy to lead, responds well and the farrier has no problem in doing his feet.  He was gelded about 6 months ago and is current on everything as well as having his coggins certificae.  Mr. Butts got his name as he will quickly turn around to have his behind scratched.  He is a good gentle horse and with more riding would be a good family horse.  Mr. Butts loves other horses and gets on well with the two mares that he is currently residing in.

--

Mustang is a beautiful buckskin mustang mare.  She is about 6 years old.  Can be a handful at times.  Once she has a lead on she is gentle.  Will stand for the farrier and allows handling.  She can be stubborn at times though and headstrong so needs and experienced rider to finish her out.  She is truly the most stunning horse here in her looks.

Sally is a sweet and gentle mare that is approximately 30 years old.  She is easy to handle, load, whatever.  She could be lightly ridden by an owner of not too much weight.  She gets on well with other horses, stands well for the farrier and even is friends with Miss Arnette, the cat who thinks she owns the place.  If you look closely at this first picture you can see that Miss Arnette is laying almost under Sally's nose.  She is a great mare.  Would make a good companion animal as well to give her the love and attention she deserves for the remainder of her life.

--

Wilbue is a 28 year old Arab gelding and what a love he is.  Of all the horses here he is the easiest to handle.  If you love horse kisses just smack your lips around him and get ready to feel his lips nuzzling your mouth.  He leads well, stand well for the farrier, loads well and is an overall sound horse.  An intermediate to experiences rider is needed for this wonderful gelding.  This horse is truly sound.

7 month old TB Gelding Ready For Adoption

Announcing...

Mara's son is now ready for adoption!!!

We picked up Mara last December from HPAF. She was part of a hoarding case and was bred. Mara had a very healthy colt on March 3, 2011. That colt has now been gelded and is ready for his forever home! He is UTD on all shots, worming, and coggins. He is halter broke and you can catch him anywhere. He loves people and has tons of personality. Will play in the water hose for hours. His movement is amazing and I believe he would excel in the show ring or be a great trail horse. I want him to go to an experienced TB home. We believe he will be 16+ hands. He is already 13.2 at 7 months. This is a very nice baby. He is 100% sound and healthy. Vet checks welcome on all horses. WE CAN'T GET THE PAPERS ON HIM but we do know his bloodlines.

Here is the link to his Dam's pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/mars+hooligan

Here is the link to his Sire's pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/bobs+turning+trick

This is a current picture. If interested I have more pictures of him and I can email them to you.

7 month old Bay Gelding Ready for adoption

Announcing...

****READY FOR ADOPTION*** Approx 7 month old bay Gelding. Has one blue eye. Leads well, have been working on picking up hooves and grooming. He was gelded on 10-23-11, has had his shots, has been wormed. Have not trimmed his hooves yet but as soon as he is picking his feet up good that will be done. We don't believe he will get very big probably around the 14 to 14.2 hand range. Had a very bad injury on left shoulder when he arrived. It is almost healed but is going to leave a small scar. Sound and healthy otherwise. Vet Checks are always welcome on any of our horses. Adoption Fee: $200 contact: hopeequinerescue@yahoo.com (hopeequinerescue @ yahoo.com) for more information and an adoption application. Please feel free to cross post and network. Thank you! Putting hope back into the lives of horses one at a time.

Dutchess & Jack picked up on Sunday August 14th.

--

Dutchess

Dutchess is a 29 yr old Quarter Horse mare. She is a little different than most of our rescues. She has had a WONDERFUL home for the last 15 yrs. She has been loved and well cared for. She taught her owner's kids how to ride and was a very loved member of the family. Unfortunatly life circumstances change and Dutchess needs a new home. She is UTD on everything. She did suffer a bowed tendon several months ago but is sound. Would prefer a companion only home or very light riding. Dutchess needs a very special home and we are accepting applications for her now. No adoption fee. It is very important that she gets the right home and I will screen all applications carefully.

--

JACK

Jack is a 16 yr old gelding donkey. He had the same owner as Dutchess. He has been with Dutchess for 10 yrs. Jack and Dutchess are big buddies and love each other very much. He has also been very well cared for and loved for the last 10 yrs. He originally was with the circus and did the pony rides. He has been ridden but it has been a while. Jack is not your usual donkey. He is very easy to handle. He jumped right in the trailer! He stands great for the farrier and is usually easy to catch. He has his moments every once in awhile but for a donkey that is great!

--

Both Jack & Dutchess are very sweet and love attention. I would love to keep them as sanctuary horses for the rest of their lives but we do not have the room.

They would be perfect for a family with several small children needing to learn about horses.

WE ARE HOPING TO KEEP THE PAIR TOGETHER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THERE IS NO ADOPTION FEE FOR THE PAIR AND THEY ARE UTD ON EVERYTHING.

Please contact me for more information.

We would love to hear from you!

Rescue: Horse Protection Association of Florida

Horse Protection Association of Florida (HPAF) in Micanopy (near Gainesville, north central Florida) has two Throughbred mares we need help finding homes for. Lady of the Knight is an 8 -9 year old mare, 15:3hh, recently started under saddle after being a broodmare. Lady is athletic and a nice mover but she will require a skilled trainer. She is a bit spacey but does improve consistantly with handling. She was rarely handled in the past few years and is now becoming more settled with daily grooming and a regular meal times and coming into her stall schedule. She was started by in a Martin Black colt starting in March and has about 20 rides. The second mare, Patty Cat is 15:1hh, 5 -6 years old. She was not halter broke when she came in, November of 2010. Patty has had some Parelli ground handling and will make a steady horse with continued training. Patty was also started in March and has about 15 rides on her. HPAF is over loaded with Thoroughbreds and must find homes for some to make space for new horses coming in. Photos sent on request. We ask for an adoption application, pictures of where the horse will be living & pictures of current horses and references. There is no adoption fee or donation for a qualified home. msilver@wildblue.net   (msilver @ wildblue.net) www.hpaf.org

Rescue:  Painted Star Equine Rescue, Inc

We still have 3 Registered Paint mares that are looking for homes in the Tallahassee area. They are close to Sneads, FL.  They are not started under saddle but are all gentle and have pretty good ground manners. Adoption fees are required as these horses need vet care to be able to travel and the owner cannot afford to pay it. We will also be buying the owner hay with some of the money so she can feed her other horses.

Robin, a 9 year old mare.  Sorrel with minimal belly white.  She is Sissy's out of another stallion.   She is a smaller horse and looks pretty good.  She was lunged and backed once as a 3 year old. Adoption fee 360.00 , this includes updated vet work ( coggins and shots) and shipping up to 120 miles.

Breeze, a 8 year old mare.  She is a flashy bay tovero.  She is Sissy's and full sister to Robin, but looks quite different.  She is a big horse - over 15 hands.  She has had no formal training.  She is beautiful. Adoption fee is $460.00 , this includes updated vet work ( coggins and shots) and shipping up to 120 miles.

Fancy is a 3 year old flashy sorrel overo out of Breeze and Cayo.  She is big, very pretty.  Not trained. Adoption fee $460.00 this includes updated vet work ( coggins and shots) and shipping up to 120 miles.

ADOPTABLE and anxious for a new home: Meet ThinkaPrince, 18yo OTTB gelding. Extensive hunter under saddle arena experience. NO idea if he's done any "outside of fences" or trail work, it seems unlikely.
Prince would LOVE a job as a low-duty lesson horse for early intermediate and above hunter under saddle riders. He has improved the confidence of several of your volunteers that have good seat and hands walk/trot but needed time in the saddle with a non-push-button horse (they are taking lessons elsewhere).
Prince would also be a GREAT partner to an intermediate rider looking to ride at home or lower level shows, on a schedule that would suit them both. At least at his current fitness level, Prince isn't likely to be rushing off to A level shows any time soon.
Prince LOVES to live in the show barn / boarding barn / lesson barn style world where he has a warm, dry stall every night. That is part of why we are VERY actively working to find him a new home -- our 38 acres of harsh rolling pasture is not his idea of heaven.
ADOPTION FEE REDUCED TO $500 UNTIL 3/1/2012!!

SKYE -- Mustang mare, still Looking for her forever home. Skye is a great mare, very easy to manage. Has done lead line and therapy work. Would genuinely excel with a single human of her own. Needs more regular attention than a 'husband horse' or a weekend horse, at least at this stage in her education.

We are VERY anxious to place this high strung, show-quality exceptionally well bred MFT mare. We've convinced the board to temporarily decreased her adoption fee to $500 for someone who contracts for her by 12/15/11.
She's gorgeous and VERY VERY smart; at the very least green broke under saddle (we aren't gaited trainers and are not doing more with her to turn her into a w/t/c mount when she's clearly very capably gaited). Needs an experienced handler, and we need the room.
Please can you help us find Zima her new future???

More info:

LITTLE BEERS ZIMA is a very well bred gorgeous painted (pinto) missouri fox trotter mare, just 6 years of age. Zima has at least basic training under saddle prior to having been sold 2 years ago to a family who were not adequately skilled to own her. They did not ride her, then donated her to Crosswinds Equine Rescue. We have saddled and ridden her just enough to know she does have basic skills undersaddle; single reins; mounts/dismounts easily. We are NOT gaited riders and do not have training skills to teach her to properly gait. Rather than ruin her natural talent, we have NOT done more riding work with zima. She is a VERRRRRY bright mare, and would LOVE a job as a trick horse or a show horse, or any mentally challenging job that would entail significant attention from a partner who adored and respected her, and earned her adoration and respect. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS HORSE, OR A CHILDS HORSE, OR FOR A TIMID OR INEXPERIENCED OR HARSH/ARROGANT HANDLER. She is very opinionated and demands certain standards from her human. This is a FOR SALE listing, not an adoption. Ownership transfers immediately upon signing a purchase agreement. Transportation available for up to 5 hours one-way.

Fay is a beautiful big Belgian mare with classic build and classic looks.
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=184847681527307
http://www.crosswindseqresq.org/fay.html
Fay has 30 days professional riding training, and is w/t/c indoors and out, with experience riding on a road (but not extensive traffic); wide open fields; indoor and outdoor arena, water crossings, etc. Fay is energetic and forward, but not frantic or hot headed. She won't pull you out of the saddle to go, but neither is she a 'gentle giant' who won't move her feet without exhausting you!
Fay has had some tough times in her life - the mare she came with had to be put to sleep shortly after their arrival for a nightmare of problems in both front hooves. Fay got over her grief, made friends, and is a very comfortable, very natural member of the herd now. She has good ground manners, likes people, and is genuinely a joy to be around.
Please visit her site for additional details including how to adopt, fees, how our process works. Ownership transfers to the adopter 6 months after the horse goes home with you (more details available in the contract and how to adopt pages). Fay is in central IL - 1 hour from Champaign; 1.5 from Indy, 2.5 from Chicago, 3.5 from St Louis. We adopt all over the US and even have a horse adopted in Canada.
If Fay isn't right for you, please will you share her info with others and help her find her forever home??

Now Available for Adoption!

~~

From left to right: Bella, Rosie, Romeo

In August 2011, Changing Leads welcomed three new horses: Bella, Bella's filly Rosie and Romeo. We're pleased to announce we are now accepting adoption applications for these rescues!

--

Bella, dam of Rosie, is a very friendly sorrel mare. She is most likely a Tennessee Walker cross, about 6 years. Bella leads well and stands for the farrier. Her adoption fee is $500.

--

Rosie is a six month old Tennessee Walker cross, born in May 2011. This filly loves people and has quickly become a favorite with our volunteers and visitors. Rosie's adoption fee is $500.

--

Romeo, a handsome white gelding, is a Tennessee Walker cross, DOB 9/4/07. He is not broke to ride, but with his young age and intelligence we believe he will really thrive in an environment where he will be challenged by learning new things! Romeo's adoption fee is $500.

--

To submit an adoption application or view all of our horses available for adoption, please visit our website.

 Featured Rescue: Overnight Edition

~~

Overnight Edition, aka "Momma," is 14-year-old Thoroughbred mare, rescued from California. Very sweet, good manners, beautiful mare. Would make a wonderful companion horse.
Her adoption fee is $500, pending approval from Changing Leads.

In September 2011, Momma sustained an injury resulting in over $1,000 in medical expenses. To make a contribution towards her recovery, please consider making a tax deductible donation to Changing Leads Equine Rescue (http://changingleadsequinerescue.org/donations.html).

More Good News! Pics of the 31 Orphaned Foals and 8 Nursing Mares (with babies) released into their new, temporary digs!

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 01:59 AM PDT

I guess there isn’t much of a story today… just great follow-up photos.

These are the 31 newly orphaned foals (Moms went off to slaughter) and the 8 Nursing Mares (who didn’t fit on the truck) and their babies being released into their temporary holding facility in Fallon, Nevada.

In case you missed the story, Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue was able to raise $39,000 in 24 hours (from all of you wonderful people) to rescue these horses from the kill pen.  Click here  (http://horseandman.com/bucket-fund-stories/31-newly-orphaned-foals-and-8-nursing-mares-with-their-babies-are-in-the-slaughter-pen-now-is-the-time-to-make-the-bucket-fund-matter-these-horses-already-have-a-place-to-go-and-thrive-we-just/) for the original story.

Now, Lifesavers is hoping to find individual, approved, Rescues to take in these horses with the funds provided by all of you.  These horses will have all the proper care AS WELL AS training.  That is the most important.

These babies will have a great start to become the kind of equine citizen that create ambassadors for Rescued Horses.
