I sold a cremello gelding 2 yrs ago with a contract saying I would have first option to buy him back. I drove by a couple of weeks ago and he was gone. I had just missed him being sold to a John Godfry a horse trader who sold him to another horse trader who supposedly took him to New Holland, PA. I just wanted to track him down and make sure he is ok. He is a Arab/QH cross but looks more Arab. He is 5 yrs old and very slight build. If you look close or when he is wet you can see 2 hind stockings, a white spot on his right knee, and a blaze. Of course 2 blue eyes. He is about 14.1 hh. We called him Hollywood. I inclosed the most resent pictures. He would have been sold up there within the last few weeks I believe. My horse Marvin was stolen from me. The person who did this knows who they are. I have a horse lawyer and have gone with the police to numerous places to find him. I'm new to this group and don't post much but saw the following in the 1/4 edition of the Scranton Times and thought I'd help to get word out there incase anyone may be able to help this this woman who lost her horses and is devastated.

On Nov 24th Naomi Root 76, of Springville, PA went to check on her horses and all three were gone-the gate had been knocked down. It has been six weeks and not a sign of them. She has contacted the police, and humane shelter in Susq. county as well as placed posters throughout Susq & Wyoming counties but so far no leads. She raised these horses form birth so you can imagine how upset she is. Missing are: Frosty-grey half Arabian 14 yrs, Minina-half Arabian 31 yrs Chestnut, Princess-Bay, half-Arabian. The chain on the property was cut and the horse was stolen. Mare is in foal (due in August).

NetPosse.com Idaho Alert - SC - 3 Horses Missing from Rescue - May 12, 2008
Lisa trusted a fellow rescuer in South Carolina, and compensated her, to care for her horses while she was in the middle of a transition. She even stated a few of the horses could be adopted out to approved homes. But when Lisa was ready to have the horses shipped back to Florida, things fell apart. Despite paying for Coggins and part of the shipping in March, the horses never arrived in Florida.
Finally another shipper was sent to SC in May. He found the horses on the property in deplorable conditions with no water and the rescuer not at home. After taking pictures, he called authorities and several horses were removed. Two on the property were Lisa's and are now back home in Florida.
Lisa was stunned to get the pictures later and recognize Chloe, who she was told had been adopted out. Chloe was almost a skeleton. The next day Chloe disappeared.
Where is she now? Was Heston also there though he was to have been adopted out? Lisa possibly recognized him in the pictures the shipper took. Where is Champ? Is he in a good home like Lisa was told?
Help Lisa bring these horses home to Florida!

This email is the good, bad and ugly. The good news is that Chloe has been found! She is being taken to another rescue facility in South Carolina to be evaluated before deciding when she can be shipped back to Florida.
Sadly, Lisa was told that Heston was euthanized. She is awaiting confirmation via local authorities, however.
SO WHERE IS CHAMP!? If he has a good home, Lisa will let him stay, but she needs reassurance after the condition in which Chloe was found and now the news about Heston.

I saw this on COTH and thought I would post here since so many people go to many different auctions you could keep all eyes open;
LOCATION: Timber Lake, SD
We have 16 mares and a Red Dun Stallion missing. That’s right we are missing 17 horses!!! They were taken from 2 separate pastures and represent the majority of our mares. These horses are very dear to our hearts and we are devastated that they are missing. Some have very distinctive markings and may have been sold privately or taken to a horse sale. If you have seen any of these horses or know where they are please contact us!! We only want the safe return of our horses. If they are not found or returned we will proceed through all means necessary to seek out all persons involved in the potential abduction of our horses.
Will be posting more ads with pictures of all the missing horses. Again, we are devastated that so many of our mares are gone and the only thing keeping our daughter going is that we may yet find some of our horses. Several of these mares are her personal horses that she raised and was looking forward to working with this summer. Please pass this information on and get the word out. Reward will be offered for anyone who finds these horses or has information leading to the discovery of the horses.

We need all the help we can get in locating the whereabouts of two

horses that were adopted from HHERR in January 2007. We have not heard

from the adopter since August of 2007. We have since learned the adopted

moved, disconnected her cell phone and email. We have no way of

locating these horses and need everyone's help to find them.

One of my friends had her horse stolen from the pasture on Thursday! She is absolutely devastated. He's a 2yr old, 15.3h black (sunbleached) Clyde cross gelding. He's got a blaze and 4 white stockings. Please, anyone at auctions, please keep an eye out for him! Please contact the Shelby County Sheriff at (901)-379-7626 and give report # 1007001176SH if you may see him at any auction barns or dealers. He's got a great personality, which is why they think he was the one chosen, because he'll walk right up to you. I'm working on getting pics to post, as well as getting her to post on netposse. Please help find this great guy!!

Incident Details: Went to court for trade services, in MN they do not award property, so I was given a judgment for the amount of my work, previous owner would not take cash in court for the horse, since he raised her price and would not include my trade service. Had to wait 60 days to put a lien on Sahara, and they left the state halfway through the waiting process and sold her, then the paper trail on the internet disappeared. Trying to find the new owner so I can be re-united with her.

Both Snowman and Nightlatch are Percheron/Thoroughbred cross Geldings and are 6 years old, 16.1 hands and 1,200 lbs. The horses wandered into adjoining farm after trespassers on ATVs cut fences. They have disappeared from neighbor's property and considered stolen per owner.
Also stolen: 16.3 fleabitten grey gelding perch/tb cross and a gaited App mare 15 H marshmallow rolled in coco color.

Denny's Sugar Cube, aka Midnight is missing from her pasture. She was in the pasture with two other horses and is believed to have been led out through a gate to a paved road.

Keep in mind that the two Alabama horses recovered yesterday were escapees from their pasture and ended up being loaded by some men who later sold the horses. Even though people saw the horses grazing in pastures no one call authorities. Missing! 6 paint mares and a black and white tovero gelding. We had to turn them loose on Sunday when we were evacuated on Sunday from the Harmon Road area off 71 by the Bastrop State Park. Princess Ariel was purchased at auction in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was advertised with a FREE breeding and so she went back to Texas with the Sellers.
From owner Rebecca: After about three months I realized that I was getting the run around so I sent them a check to cover mare care, and I hired a transport to collect her. I informed the previous owners of the pick up date and they agreed. On that date the transport called me to inform me that they were not home and they could no longer wait. I called and called them to no avail. That following Monday the breeder called me at work and told me he would bring her to me. He never did so, and I could not get them to respond to my phone calls or letters. I have been searching for her ever since.
It is believed this mare has been re-sold and registered under a new owner. Rebecca has papers proving her legal ownership. Please help her find her mare!

On or about the 3rd of October between the hours of 0830 and 1030, Mocca & Texas were removed from 300 block of Gooch St, Mason, TX, from a private pasture. No damage was done to fence or gate. A blue pickup and white trailer were spotted near the area. Reports of the same truck and trailer had been reported in the area previous to the date. Suspect may be in the Lubbock area. My Jorga Peach is a rescue horse with Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society being fostered in McKinney, Tx. My Jorga Peach was fed breakfast on the morning of May 22, 2009 by her foster home and missing at dinner time - around 6:30 PM. Fences fine, locks on gates in tact. One gate has no lock, but is a gate for humans and probably would have been noticed if horse was taken out that way. We think she may have jumped the fence.

We need help getting flyers posted around this county and surrounding counties in convenient stores, gas stations, restaurants and anywhere people gather. Please tell your friends in the county and surrounding counties and ask them to do the same. Post on your list groups, Craig's list, and notify your associations.
We do not suspect foul play at this time and we are hoping she will be found before something terrible happens. It is possible someone has the horse and does not know where she belongs. It is also possible someone may find her and take advantage of the situation.

Two Horses Killed In Texas Accident
Smith County Sheriff's deputies along with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and firefighters responded to an accident early Friday morning in which two horses were killed. According to reports a truck driver was traveling on Texas Highway 31 east of Farm-to-Market Road 2661 when he hit two "ponies" and damaged his rig. The report did not specify how much damage the tractor-trailer suffered or if the driver was injured.

Please help the rescue find Jorga.....

Attn: Anyone who has had dealings with Amanda Moritz of Bee Co. Texas
Please feel free to forward this to any horse email lists, message
boards, etc. We need to get the word out.
In August 2003, Lone Star Equine Rescue (LSER) (of which I was
President) removed 24 horses from Amanda Moritz in Beeville, Texas.
We also found one dead horse on the property. In court, the judge
awarded all twenty-four horses to LSER. Unfortunately another horse
went down and was euthanized a day after we removed them and another
one died two weeks later. Amanda Moritz, Kathy Moritz, and Nell
Gilmore were charged with animal cruelty. In 2008, Amanda Moritz's
case finally went to court and she was put on probation. When the
horses were removed, she claimed to be running a horse rescue and
breeding facility.
On November 21 of this year, we at Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society
worked with the Bee County Sheriff's office to remove another 10
horses from Amanda Moritz near Beeville, Texas. This time one horse
was in such critical shape that he died a few days after being
removed. In court on December 1, 2008, the judge awarded all
surviving horses to BEHS. At this time, Amanda claims to be running
a training and breeding business, MGM Performance horses, website
http://mgmranch.tripod.com/. She also claims to be running Leap of
Faith Equine Rescue and Sanctuary. The website is at

In both cases, Amanda Moritz purchased horses on payments but
according to the owners of those horses, she never paid for them or
she wrote bad checks to owners of the horses. She also advertised at
various times that she was running an equine rescue organization and
requested donations/contributions.
I have been in contact with two people who sold Amanda Moritz horses,
and we are missing at least one horse that was sold to Amanda. Her
rightful owner would like to find her, and she is offering a reward
for her. The mare (TB) is a 1992 bay mare with a small, irregular vertical
star, double diagonal cowlick at top of eye level, right is higher.
Cowlick high at crest of neck on both sides; cowlick in jugular groove
on right side. She also has a lip tattoo. She would have been
obtained from Amanda Moritz sometime after March 2008.
If anyone else sold or gave a horse(s) to Amanda Moritz, MGM
Performance Horses, or Leap of Faith Equine Rescue & Sanctuary of
Beeville or Skidmore, Texas in the past 1-2 years, please contact the

How Stolen: Persons or person parked a trailer in the driveway and went into the barn behind the house took halters and walked the horses to the street through the yard next to the house and loaded the horses in a trailer. The main gate was locked and the primary resident was out of town.

NetPosse.com Idaho Alert - TX - Cremello Mare Missing from Herd - Aug 15, 2008 - Johnson County
Lexa was discovered missing from a herd of 16 horses in a 40-acre pasture. She was last seen around mid-July. PRESUMED STOLEN!
Lexa is a cremello quarter horse mare with typical characteristics of a cremello (pale palomino almost white), and she has no other markings except for some scarring on her legs and a place on her withers.
Help us find Lexa and bring her home!
NOTE: We have been in contact with the vet in Oklahoma and shared those pictures with Lexa's owner. She doesn't believe it's her horse and the timing is not quite right.

Midnight is IN DANGER!!!!
On July 5, 2008, Melinda found her fence pulled up and three horses missing.
After searching for two weeks, she found two of the horses abused and severely injured in a man's pasture. He has admitted to having Midnight but has led officers on several wild goose chases since that time.
Please help us find Midnight - his life might be in danger! Look at the pictures of the other horses - they were possibly used in tripping rodeos - they might be crippled for life!
Melinda and her 10-yr-old daughter, who is Midnight's rider, are beside themselves with worry. They need encouragement and support.
And remember ... their horses might not be the only ones!

After receiving an email from Midnight's owner, detailing the horrors she has been through since her ordeal began in July, I just had to stress how important it is to get this email out.
The suspect is not in jail. He demanded that Melinda pay him for keeping her horses - the same horses that he said he didn't have and that were found injured and terrified.
Melinda fears for Midnight's life. The other two horses she got back were young geldings that had severe leg injuries aside from their massive abrasions. Their names are Pickles and Bubblegum - can you tell their family loves them?
When Melinda brought them home, she walked them four miles back to her house. Can you imagine what she was feeling during that journey? And afterwards the same person who did this continued to cause her more pain?
Volunteers of Habitat for Horses have been very supportive and are personally helping Melinda get Pickles and Bubblegum on the road to recovery.
While we cannot relay any more details, please know that law enforcement is actively working on this case so that justice can be served.
PLEASE get this alert to EVERYONE you can think of! This man needs to be stopped! And Midnight needs to come home to his family, Pickles and Bubblegum.
Remember - people that abuse animals often abuse people.

Midnight is IN DANGER!!!!
On July 5, 2008, Melinda found her fence pulled up and three horses missing.
After searching for two weeks, she found two of the horses abused and severely injured in a man's pasture. He has admitted to having Midnight but has led officers on several wild goose chases since that time.
Please help us find Midnight - his life might be in danger! Look at the pictures of the other horses - they were possibly used in tripping rodeos - they might be crippled for life!
Melinda and her 10-yr-old daughter, who is Midnight's rider, are beside themselves with worry. They need encouragement and support.
And remember ... their horses might not be the only ones!

Hi there,
I tried posting this info to the Group earlier, but being new, I may not have done it right, as I can't find it anywhere. ;-)
Anyway, I received the following email earlier today. I called the owners of the two horses to verify the story.
They have already reported the theft to TSCRA. They can also be reached by email at: lisaschlitt@yahoo.com
I'm sure they would not only appreciate info leading to their return, but words of comfort as well.
Please post and cross post. Let's help them get their horses back!!!

PLEASE HELP! My four year old Ranchero was stolen from my barn in Houston, TX this morning (12/5/07) or last night along with another half Andalusian four year old filly named Chica. I need everyone in the Texas area to keep an eye out for two new Andalusians that crop for sale. Both are broken to ride with limited knowledge - walk, trot only. This horse is on medication for ulcers and will become sick without them. Husband could contact local vet to treat ulcer or even to geld him, so please post in all local vet offices, feed/tack stores, etc.

Hello everyone, Please distribute this to everyone you know. Jodi Barna, one
of our Horse Council committee chairs lost her horse, Chief, at
approximately 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 7th after he spooked on a trail ride
and she was unseated. Chief ran off into the woods and did not return Jodi
was able to track him for a while but unfortunately his tracks dissapeared
in an unmowed field. Chief ran off wearing all his tack which included an
endurance type saddle, leather bridle and reins and a rope halter under his
bridle. Karen Blow and four of her friends have searched for Chief on
horseback both yesterday and today. More volunteers would be helpful as our
fear is that Chief may have gotten his tack caught up somewhere. If you are
interested in searching please contact Jodi at 485- 3354 or Karen Blow at
839-0147. Because of work committments and a memorial service this weekend I
will not be able to help with coordination so please don't contact me
directly to volunteer. Most importantly please pass this infomation on to
everyone you know especially those in the Northfield area to keep there eyes

Owner let a friend free lease two horses in good faith without completed the agreed upon paperwork because they were too busy at the time. When they did contact them to do the paperwork later the owner found out that one of the horses had been sold. One horse has been recovered and they are now searching for Vladdy.
"We have recovered one with the help of animal patrol, but this gentleman that was using our horses has no idea what the name, address or phone number of this guy he sold the horse too. We just want her back! Someone has Vladdy and does not realize that," says Johnathan Deal.

Owner left horse in care of barn manager during a move and paid board, but found out barn manager had allegedly given horse away to a horse dealer in February 2009. Believes mare might have gone to slaughter ... where is LadyHawke?

THIS IS AN ALERT REGARDING A STOLEN HORSE...
Last Friday a 12 year old black Tennessee Walker was stolen from the home of Tom Tracy. He and his wife are desperately trying to find their horse.
He is;
Black with a small white mark on the left side of his withers and on his right side a white mark where the saddle ring goes.
Several people said they may have seen him at the Blackstone auction on Saturday.....This horse is very high spirited and is 16 hands tall..

It is getting close to Christmas and we see an increase of thefts this time of year, especially with kid safe horses and ponies. Do you have anything that falls into this category? Read the story below of an attempted theft in Virginia this past weekend. Below is an excerpt from a letter received at Stolen Horse International this weekend.

We live in Bumpass, Virginia, which is in Spotsylvania County Virginia. We never thought living in the country this could happen to us. Well it  did. We are very lucky that our horses were not stolen but we feel that we need to warn other horse owners in this area. Three of my horses have tattoos and all five are micro-chipped. I have current pictures with their description in the event they are stolen or missing.

I want to personally thank Debi, as she really opened our eyes. My husband and I met Debi on November 3, 2007 in Richmond Virginia at the Virginia Equine Extravaganza. Debi please keep up the great work!!

On Friday November 2, 2007 at approximately 7:45 pm - 8:15 pm someone or persons attempted to steal my horses but where unsuccessful. It appears they were scared off by either my dog or neighbor. When my husband and I got home we noticed our gate and fence were damaged and the fence post was split in half and pulled out of the ground. There were also tire marks in the field and yard. My horses were very spooked and needless to say so were we. I called the police right away. My neighbor had heard a noise and looked over but could not see much as it was dark. All she heard was a crash and then the sound of a trailer door opening. She said right after the crashing sound and the sound of a trailer door opening, all she could see were the horses running around. My dog Zeus was barking non stop. She was by herself and was afraid to come on the property and tried to call us on our cells phones, but could not find our numbers. When we got home and saw the damage, we called the police. My three other horses who were in a different field were safe but also very spooked. When my neighbor saw that we were home, she came over a told us what she heard. When the police arrived they were very concerned and took a report and told us that they will start patrolling our area more. There are other horse owners on our road and we notified them of what happened to us so that it does not happen to them.

The gate, which even had a padlock on it, was pushed inwards and fence post was broken right out of the ground. We think the trailer hit the gate and pulled forward as the tire marks indicated this. Thank
goodness my horses ran away from it, as they could have gotten hurt. My mare had a few scrapes from the fence wire and was spooked and my gelding was very spooked. It took us awhile to calm everyone down. Once we got them into their stalls and locked them up for the night they finally settled down. We were up all night waiting for the thefts to come back, as the police said they may try again. Well needless to say
we were waiting...

Sue Harris needs your help. She is not presently in VA it is possible her horses may not be either. Unfortunately the horses didn't choose to leave. Perhaps you or someone you know unknowingly witnessed the following. Please help Sue. Pass this on to your friends and ask them to do the same. You can see from the pictures that these horses were loved by those we love most...children.
Possible Lead: Two sightings of 1-2 young men walking horse(s) along Highway 687 between 7:30-8 PM between Dillons Fork and Valley Drive, and later between 9:30-10 PM between Orchard Drive and Stones Dairy. Horses were walked out of property--only one entrance so they had to have come down the driveway onto 609 and then gone left onto 687 at T-intersection.

Bell & Gyps - ApHC Appaloosa Mares - Missing when Pasture Owner Allegedly Removed Illegally - April 25, 2010 - Stevens County, Washington
Bell is Black Roan, 12 yr old, 14.2 hh - star, snip, eye mottling, lip mottling, Crescent Shaped Star and T shaped snip between nostrils, Left Rear Leg pastern, some black spots in roaned area.
Gyps is LIGHT sorrel, 21 yr old, 15.2 hh - blaze, eye mottling, lip mottling, Right Rear pastern, Puncture scar on left fore shoulder
Both mares are broodmares and are only halter & trailer trained.
They were boarded in a pasture and pasture owner allegedly disposed of mares and then claimed back board was owed. Mares' owner is currently consulting an attorney regarding possible legal action. Supposedly, last person to have them is unknown mule breed in Republic, WA. Afraid horses might have been transported across into Canada for slaughter for human food.

Missy - Stolen TWH(BEA) Black Mare from Lea County, New Mexico

Black Tennessee Walking Horse mare stolen from her pasture after fence was cut. She has a small star on forehead. Missy is 9 yrs old, 16 hands and 1,000 lb. She is a well-trained, gaited trail horse.

Two of Seven Horses Not Yet Recovered - St. Joseph County, Indiana
Barrel Horses - Ziggy & Poppi Still Missing after 7 horses allegedly removed illegally - Feb. 19, 2008 - St. Josephy County, Indiana. A third horse, Cruiser, was successfully recovered April 2, 2010, at the Shipshewanna auction.
Melissa's Daughter is still desperate to find the last two of her missing horses, Ziggy and Poppi.
Ziggy is a 14.2 hand, 5 yr old chestnut quarterhorse mare, trained in barrels. She has a star with a very thin stripe on her face. Ziggy's most identifying feature is a LARGE SCAR across the top of her right hip.
Poppi is a 12 hand, 5 yr old Pinto Pony. This 80% white pony is well broke with a sorrel face and blaze. He is also trained on Poles and Barrels.
