Kist Livestock Auction Report Mandan, North Dakota

27 September 2008

Hi,

The monthly horse auction saterday lasted from 8 am untill almost 10 at night with over 600 horses, this weekend is the Hermanson Kist sale and there are another 3000 horses consigned to be sold over 3 days.

There where at least 5 kill buyers there on saterday and I have to say they where pretty much letting me have anything I bid on without driving up the price.

A friend had me traines and sales ranch horses and had me pick up several good mares and young horses for her

Between what I came home with for our own pull and the horses for Ginger we pulled 13 horses!!
Six where AQHA mares with pedigrees to die for including a 2 yr old filly who actully has King Fritz and Sunny Dee Bar still on the papers! I believe I picked her up for about $20
There was also a Grand daughter of Docs Perscription that went for about $230. ALL of them had awesome pedigrees and championship conformation.
There was a grey mare who was 9, with a 6 week old filly at side and pasture exposed for next year, We got her for $160!

Ok the foals, One was a creamello paint stud colt (reg) and there where 4 fillies (aqha) and 2 aqha colts
One of the fillies is a chocolate palomino and one of the colts is a golden palomino.

My longtime friend Beth and I have decided to go together and keep the palomino colt in the family so in spring he will be shipped to her and she plans to promote him and show people there the quality of the horses being sent to kill pens here in ND.

His Sire is linebred Two Eyed Jack and his Dam is foundation bred with some Three Bars.
We are still working on names for him but would like to do a wordplay with it that implys he had a second chance in life.

Any ideas?

I proud to say that ALL of these mares and foals where placed in less then 24 hours!
Things are starting to take shape for my little rescue effort, people are helping and others are calling and offering to take foals, Ive even had some concidering bringing foals to me instead of to the sale.
There are now 3 kill buyers who look at me to see if I want a young horse before they even bid on them and have offered to let me have foals from their pens.

We have started a rescue called Prairie Hopes Foal Rescue ( there is a yahoo group if your interested in joining) and while so far that yahoo group isnt taking off we are actully getting together a staff!

Vanzi ( the 10 week old filly from last month) is doing great! Shes thinks shes a pocket pony ..lol

Goodnight Lovin the Hollywood Dun It grand daughter we got last month is also doing great!
