Rescues In Need
Rescues often have times where they heed to issue a
call for help. Most of the rescues are 501c3, which means that any donations to them
are a tax deduction. They rely heavily on donations. Please take a moment and
donate to one of these rescues.

As ERF (Equine Rescue France) visit markets and welfare
cases across France, we often need to find the owners of animals or check
the history of the animals that we see. As all equines in France now have to
be chipped by law, we need to purchase at least one hand-held microchip
scanner for the team.
The cost of scanners has fallen rapidly recently and they are now available
for as little as 150€. If only 30 people give 5€ today then we will be able
to make an even greater difference for equines in France.
Just click the Paypal button on the link below to our blog (all currencies

Hi Brandi,
My Mom is Vicki Law. She suggested that I contact you to possibly be put on your list of rescues in need. We currently have 4 rescue mouths to feed through the winter. Hopefully 2 well be available for adoption in the next month or so. We took in one mare this last Saturday that is in desperate need of groceries and vetting (I'm more worried about her weight than her hock). We have a need for funds for hay, feed, vet bills, shavings, etc.
I have set up a webstore on my site so that people who would like to help can purchase certain items with the proceeds going towards our needs. (I did this so that those people who felt uncomfortable with "just" donating monies could help out and get something in return.)
We are registered with the State of Alabama as a NFP, and our 501c3 application is being processed.
Our website is www.saerr.org
Our email address and NFP PayPal account are the same... ss2therescue@yahoo.com (ss2therescue @ yahoo.com)
If you have any suggestions as to information that I need to have on my site, please let me know. I am new to the "public" aspect of things, and would like to make as much available on my site as possible.
Thank you for all you do to help the horses!!!

Hi Brandi,
This is Vicki from Thunder Valley Farm in Alabama. We spoke this past year several times.
I know you speak to tons of people, you may remember my horse...Storm.
It took us seven months and close to $1000 to bring him back from near death.
I have posted about him on ABN...

I hate to ask but I am in need of help. With my family, I run a private rescue and have nine rescues in our care at this time.
My husband has funded everything and now he is laid off. It is temporary he will be going back to work Jan. 5th. I just can't see how I will be able to feed our horses through the next 5 weeks. He will work two weeks before he gets his first check. He works in the auto industry and is normally out of work only one week for Christmas. I never though that he would be out for so long. To make matters worse his last three paychecks were half the norm. They promise to go back full steam in Jan. So I can play catch up on the bills then.
If you know of anyone that could help us to get horse feed through this rough patch, it would mean the world to us. I can't bear the horses going hungry. My children know that we will not have Santa this year and they are willing to give up food (meat) so that we can buy hay. We are now on the "ramen noodle diet" and the horses are on half ration. I have two bags of grain to last me the week.
I am about to panic.
I never though this would happen to us. We had a hard time during the drought getting hay, because there was none. But this is totally a lack of income.
If anyone can help, this is the address and number to my feed store..They do take Credit Cards

Over 200 animals need new homes as Valley animal rescue is financially forced to shut its doors
GILBERT, Ariz. - A Valley animal rescue and therapeutic learning center is forced to shut its doors and now approximately 200 animals need new homes.
Marley Farms was founded in 2007 and works to rescue animals all over the country. Many of the animals serve as a therapeutic experience for children by allowing them to interact with rescued and neglected animals.

Please if you live in the area and have open stalls call us at 520-445-1510, If you can offer anything at this point we can use it. Halters, lead ropes, trailers to haul, food. Subject: Fwd: This is a desperate situation at the Journey's End Ranch-Animal Sanctuary
I told Catherine to forward me an email detailing what her situation is. I know you all love animals and are already doing all you can in your busy lives to help them with your own particular cause---we can't save them all. But in Catherine's case she's at the end of her rope, this is all of her life, due to her illness she doesn't have a life outside of the animals she works tirelessly to keep and protect on her sanctuary. Please just do whatever you can to either get the word out about her situation, or send her a dollar or two---if we all do maybe she can keep on for a while. Paste it on face book, send it on to your friends, or if you know anyone that would by a piece of her land, pass this on to them as well.
Thank-you for taking a moment from your busy day to read what she told me below. She is one of those that really is worth taking a moment for.

Dear WH advocates and friends,
My horse budget runs $500 short a month. I cannot borrow any more- I did a debt settlement last year and still owe $15,000 on that. I have land for sale but values have dropped dramatically and I need the first $15,000 from any land sale to pay the old rescue debt. Unless I get a steady $500 additional coming in, I will need to beg the other sanctuary to take 5 horses before I die. I did email them a week ago asking about the possibility, but have not heard back. That in itself is a bit unsettling. We already have a contract where they get insurance and my house/25 acres when I die. The sad fact is the "horse" donors only give about $400 a month. That does not cover 9 equines. I do all the work myself, including hoof trimming and most vet care. I cannot do more to reduce costs. Hay prices are now $250-280 a ton here. Our hay bill alone runs $600 a month. Beyond that, there are mineral supplements, psyllium to prevent
sand colic, hay pellets, medication/dewormers, trimming tools and a yearly vet visit. I really thought we would have more steady supporters, but the same handful of people are the ones who give. I have 1600 Fb friends and JERAS has >2500 fans. It just does not translate into donations. I am too sick to be constantly worried about money and caring for 21 animals with no help takes up a lot of time. I can't be fundraising for hours every day. If anyone can help or forward this to people who might become sponsors, it would be appreciated. Otherwise, 5 horses will have to go somewhere else. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cathy

We have something new and exciting we'd like to share with you! It's the new Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary toolbar - once added to IE or Firefox, each time you shop at more than 1,300 stores (from Amazon to Zazzle!) a percentage of your purchase will automatically be donated to Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary - at no cost to you (and you may even save money as the toolbar provides coupons and deals as well!). The toolbar also has a search box and each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary. http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/journeys-end-ranch-animal-sanctuary
If you did only 10 searches per day, we would get enough each month to buy 2 days worth of hay for one horse, or enough dog food to feed a dog for 4 days.

The Animali Farm
Non-Profit horse rescue organization.
Working to find good homes for horses in danger of going to slaughter.
Winter Hay Drive!
With the work involved getting a big rescue started we would really rather not have to worry about filling up the hay sheds for winter-but it is that time of year.
The Animali Farm needs to purchase 2 truckloads of hay to get through winter. We have three nearly empty hay barns and only 30 bales left. Right now is a good time to buy, but as winter progresses the price will go up and availability will go down.
Full hay sheds are the most important factor in our being able to take in horses that need an immediate place to go. If we can't feed them we have to turn them away.
We need your help. $11.50 will buy one bale of hay, $5000 will buy a truck load. Any amount that you can give is greatly appreciated, even if you buy one bale of hay!
CLICK HERE TO MAKE A DONATION WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD.
Donations are tax deductible.
Many thanks for your continued support. The Animali Farm has placed over 2000 horses into adoptive homes, and helped to place all of the horses from 15 different ranches as they were going out of business.
We hope to be successful in this next rescue effort as well.
We are supported 100% by donations. We could not do this without your help. OVER 300 HORSES NEEDING HOMES WILL SOON BE POSTED ON THE ANIMALI FARM'S WEBSITE.
Last month I traveled to 3 different ranches that have asked for our help in finding good homes for their horses. We had visited the SW ranch two summers ago, and were anxious to see how things were going. The other two ranches were new to us.
The SW ranch has always had lots of horses. When they were in the PMU business they owned as many as 1000 horses. That was a few years ago, and many of the horses have been placed. I photographed nearly 300 horses at this farm. Some are familiar, but there are quite a few Quarterhorse mares that I had not seen on the previous trip. It turns out that they were leased to another PMU rancher who was still in the business. He shut down and the SW ranch took the mares back instead of letting them go to slaughter. Most are halterbroke, and somewhat gentle. A few are even broke to ride.
The Quarterhorse rancher is a retired PMU rancher. At one time he had nearly 200 horses, but has sold off all but 25 mares and three stallions. The last few years he has been taking his foals to a big Quarterhorse sale in Texas, but with the hay shortages in Texas and the tight economy he decided not to. He really does not want them to be auctioned to the meat buyers in Texas! He has asked us to place his foals, and some of his mares. Lots of big name Quarterhorses in their pedigrees. These are nice looking foals.
The Paint rancher was never in the PMU business. She and her husband have been raising paints for years. They are getting older, and having health problems. It is getting difficult to care for the horses. She called asking for our help in placing her stock. They are beautiful horses, gentle and well fed. Their feet need work, and some of them are not halterbroke (although they are certainly not wild). It would be nice to get these horses into homes before they are in bad shape. There are also a few POA's in this group.
I am now in the process of putting together the individual web pages for the horses. The pictures are cropped and sorted, and I have built most of the SW pages, and still have the other two ranches to do. It will probably take another week to get it all built, linked and posted. We will send out another newsletter, with more information as soon as the pictures are posted.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PATIENCE. MANY OF YOU ARE ANXIOUSLY WAITING TO SEE THE HORSES, AND IT IS A TIME CONSUMING PROCESS GETTING THE WEBSITE BUILT.

200 Horses being evicted from their temporary shelter - Urgent!
http://www.wildhorserescue.org/august11.htm
Please take the link above to learn about the rescued Lifesavers horses that must leave their safe place in Nevada and somehow find their way to California.
We really need your help. This is urgent and no other options available.
We have run out of time for finding adoptive homes or sanctuaries for the horses we rescued from slaughter during the last year. Now they must vacate the property so cows can live there until they go to market to be butchered.
I'll be glad to finally get our precious horses out of the depressing and dilapitated old corrals meant for feeding animals that will eventually be killed and processed. Many ghosts of suffering souls still hang around the old feedlot.
Please read the need.

We don't normally ask for help with the horses but for this guy we would stand on a street corner with a cardboard sign if needed.
He has an immunity issue that requires an equine dermatologist and a series of treatments at UC Davis ( we have tried everything and run every test)
This pony was a cryptorchid that was with a known killbuyer and horse trader that sells to the Mexican rodeo getting beat up by the other horses. When we complained he tied him to a trailer for days. His future options were auction orMexican rodeo. As a cryptorchid he may not have had much chance of landing in a home that could care for him correctly. So although we don't normally buy from this type of person , but there was no other option and he has turned out to be one special guy.
Since arrival he has been one fun pony to have around. He has been completly rehabbed, gelded and trained. Unfortunatly he has an issue with his coat and skin . Every time he gets a minor rub or scratch that causes him to loose hair the skin does not heal well and the hair does not grow back. Across his body and hips are signs of a burn possibly chemical that have never been able to heal because of this. Duffy is a real character with more personality and intelligence than any other horse we've ever met. Once he is completely rehabbed he is going to have an amazing future as a riding companion who has a bag of fun tricks that he loves to show off.
He can fetch toys, carry buckets, spin a lasso in his mouth, and the list goes on and on. You can catch some of Duffy's videos on our facebook . He is a real character and some family is going to have a blast with him someday .
If you can share or spare Duffy's fundraiser it would be very appreciated

TINY "CHEYENNE" INJURED & IN SHOCK FROM BITE WOUNDS, PLEASE HELP GET VET CARE
FOR THIS HORSE !
This little horse, Cheyenne, has almost 100 puncture wounds from a dog attack.
She needs medical attention ASAP and Animal Control does not have $1000 for this! She has a potential foster with a known rescuer and a fund-raising site (link below) has been set up to help pay for her urgent veterinary care.
"She is on pain killers now and in shock, the vet has come out and cleaned the wounds and made her comfortable for now.. Any little bit helps.. "

PLEASE READ MORE BELOW & see photos -- Take pity on this tiny mare, please.

I can provide transport locally and can rehab at my house if needed. Please cross post.

Thanks, Jennifer
This poor mare named Cheyenne was attacked by a pack of dogs. The owner heard her cries for help and ran out and scared the dogs off. The owner is unable to pay for the vetting and has surrendered the little horse to Animal Control. The mare has almost a hundred puncture wounds and a big gaping wound under its mouth that needs to be repaired. It also has a damaged eye that will need to be removed. The cost estimate is $1000.00 at this point and could very well go up if complications arise. Animal control does not have any extra funds to pay for this horses care, and euthanasia is a very real option. We need to raise the money quickly to get Cheyenne the medical attention she needs.
I created a ChipIn page so that we can pay the vet directly for the care of this little horse. She is on pain killers now and in shock, the vet has come out and cleaned the wounds and made her comfortable for now.. Any little bit helps..

Crested Butte Horse Mission!
Posted by: "Marge" redmm97@cox.net redmm97

Please feel free to pass this along. Thank You!
Crested Butte Horse Relief Mission Update
September 7, 2011
The power of one voice transcends into many.
On August 27th I drove past a herd of 60 young horses bound for slaughter in Mexico . All of the horses were temporarily grazing on pasture land in order to gain weight and value, and were scheduled for transport to Mexico for sale and slaughter on September 8th. My thought was, “if I can encourage just one person to purchase and adopt one of these horses, I would be happy.” I wrote an email that eventually circulated around the country. The following day, Aug 28th, the first of 60 horses was spared from Mexican slaughter by a woman in Evergreen, Colorado . In less than five days we were able to raise enough money in donations from around the country to purchase and also save from slaughter all 60 of these horses temporarily living on a ranch outside of Crested Butte, Colorado.
The next step was to find property on which all the horses could live until placed in a permanent home. We had secured a 300 acre pasture which would temporarily hold the horses, but this arrangement did not work out. This was just made known to us on the evening of Tuesday Sept. 6th, so we are now again looking for temporary pasture for these horses. This pasture cannot have contact with other horses at this time, and a reasonable amount of monthly payment for leasing this property may be possible.
The most critical part of the rescue has been accomplished. The entire herd has been purchased through your generous donations. This is only the beginning, however, of a new start for these horses – their second chance. Taking possession of a herd of 60 horses is a large undertaking that requires considerable time, energy and financial support. The journey has only just begun for these lucky horses, and there are many ongoing efforts and expenses that these horses will demand in the future.
Most importantly, helping to place these angels in lasting, safe and comfortable homes is the purpose of the passion. We now have to place the horses with new owners. To date, 18 horses have found permanent homes, and 5 more owner prospects are in conversation with us!!
* Also, since we are now again in dire need of finding temporary pasture, please pass this message along. Inform anyone you know that may be able to either provide the pasture itself or refer someone who does.
The NEXT monumental piece of the rescue is the food, medical attention and care these horses will need as we continue to find them permanent homes. The cost of hay this year is high due to the drought in the San Luis Valley, Texas and Oklahoma . We must assume we could be caring for most of the horses through the cold winter in Gunnison County . We expect to need $25,000 worth of hay for the horses throughout the winter. This is an expense that is required to keep them alive and healthy. Initial medical expenses are expected to be approximately $5,000 for vaccinations, parasite control medications, lab testing and basic care. This is the cost of the supplies and medicine only, and no person is receiving any type of financial compensation for their time. We expect continued medical expenses. In addition, nutritional supplements and special individual care will be needed for the youngest and weakest.
The nationwide donations and sponsorships must continue in order to carry out the rescue mission. Your donation of compassion and time invested in seeking and searching for a home for them will complete this story. A fairy tale with a happy ending.
Your donations are tax deductible. Colorado Horsecare Foodbank (www.horsefoodbank.org) is a 501c3 organization which has generously provided, on a one time basis, use of their donation site to collect funds for these horses. A separate relief fund has been set up specifically for the Crested Butte horses through their “Black Tie” donation site. Once all of the horses have been adopted, all remaining funds will go directly to the Colorado Horsecare Foodbank.
Again, no individual person helping with this relief is or will be claiming any financial compensation for their time and efforts involved. There are no administrative costs. We have been blessed with volunteers willing to donate time and skills such as fund raising, equine veterinary services, legal advice, horsemanship skills, and administrative skills. Over 1,200 hours have already been logged and devoted to saving these majestic horses.
Lastly, the effort took on a life of its own. A powerful force driven by people who love horses. Your kindness and desire to keep it moving is profound and appreciated. You gave. It worked. 60 young colts and fillys have been gifted with your generosity – however it manifested itself along the way.
This story has fueled the momentum of many to pursue current equine issues at a national level in Washington , D.C. The state of the unwanted horse is now an epidemic in this country. While our primary focus for the time being is to save these horses lucky enough to have ended up in our valley, the overall goal of this mission is to address the situation of the unwanted horse.
Thank You,
Liz Currier

Fraudulent Cashier's Check Donation leaves Non-Profit Reeling
Greeley, CO - Denkai Animal Sanctuary is the largest 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization of its kind in Weld County. Denkai cares for two facilities and more than 250 animals on a daily basis, many with special needs. 77% of Denkai's funding comes from public contributions.
On February 25, 2011, just as Denkai's founder was beginning to worry about where the next dollar was to come from, a cashier's check in the amount of $3,520.12 originally mailed from Texas appeared in the Greeley facility's mailbox located at 14253 Hwy. 392 Greeley, CO 80631. This was the answer to so many prayers and needs for the animals such as payment of a $1,500 veterinary bill for several shelties released from a breeder among other animals seen. These pups literally had teeth rotting out of their mouths from neglect. This funding was also earmarked toward aiding in paying the $6,250.00 bill due for hay needed for Denkai's more than 60 horses, llamas and goats in need.
This answer to Denkai's prayers was short lived; the check it turns out was fraudulent. Seven days after the check had been deposited; the bank returned it unpaid and debited Denkai's bank account. Now the checks that have been written toward the veterinary bills and hay will leave Denkai Animal Sanctuary with very little funding towards its operation as the Sanctuary's founder works frantically to rebuild the reserves.
Having never experienced such a heartless act, Denkai hopes to give warning to other not for profit organizations to keep an eye out for fraud such as this and has filed a complaint with the federal government.
To help Denkai Animal Sanctuary rebuild its reserves in order to meet its more than $24,000 per month budget, please visit: www.denkaisanctuary.org and click any donation button or mail a contribution to: Denkai Animal Sanctuary 36710 WCR 126 Grover, CO 80729. The lives of these animals depend on us, please don't let them down!

I goofed. In promoting the dire need for hay and other critter food for Black Forest Animal Sanctuary, I mistakenly also gave them credit for helping homeless people by providing them with loving care and good housing while teaching these folks how to care for the various kinds of rescue animals they take in.
I just received the following correction from Toni Phillips of Mariah's Promise:
"Actually, no. It's Dreampower Ranch in Castle Rock that helps people, who help the animals."
My apologies for not crediting Dreampower Ranch.
The need for hay and other food at Black Forest Animal Sanctuary remains.

Putting hope back into the lives of horses one at a time.
Donations are down and the calls for help have increased. Winter is right around the corner and there is going to be a lot of horses in need. At this point in time we will not be able to help. Until we adopt some horses out we can't take in anything else. We are over our limit of horses here. Please forward and network all our horses that we have for adoption.
I hate to tell people no we can't help but I will not take in a horse that we can't give the best of care to. A lot of times we are a last resort for these horses.
We have 16 horses that are in our care. Our feed and hay bill runs about $900 a month. That is the basics. It does not include any supplements, shavings, fly spray, shampoo, etc.
Want to make a difference in a horses life? Donate!
We picked up a load of hay today. We feed 10 rolls a month. For every $50 you donate you will receive a shirt and magnet.

Hay guy's I try not to ask for much help but we have a horse here at the rescue that has a Injury and we could really use some assistance.
Chiquita a 6yr old Gray Paso Fino filly who we took in from BHFER has sustained a Injury to her rear leg , she tore her flesh, tendons and ligaments right off and all there is left is bone. It's a good sized wound, and not pretty. We have had the vet out and she could not stitch it so she is on lots of Antibiotics, and we are cleaning and rapping it. She dose move around pretty well , she gets plenty of pain meds, and if we get past the next several weeks she has a good chance of having a full life and being a light riding trail horse.
I don't have allot of funds, winter is coming and our feed bill is going to increase so we really need help. We have a vet Bill of $440 and the vet will be out again this Friday to assess and tell me what is next so that will be another $160-$180.
So if anyone would like to donate money to help with these vet bills we would greatly appreciate it, you can paypal the donations to

Four years ago, I was lead to taking in horses that were in need of a safe haven. I did this for months un named, then decided that this was were I was supposed to be in my life, so came up with the name OHANA, which means family, no one is left behind.
I did this out of pocket for years until I took in a horse that was in horrific condition and needed many surgeries to survive, which my pocket wasnt deep enough, so I asked for help.
I stood on street corners of busy highways with donation jars and huge signs, asking everyone to just give a dollar. If I could reach 2000 people to give a dollar, then Isabell would get her second chance. The public helped, and they helped in a HUGE way..Isabell is doing wonderfully, thanks to all those that helped and she will continue to prosper here at Ohana.
Well now, I am asking again for help. I hate the fact that I have to ask, but I am told, I am not asking for myself, I am asking for the horses.
I have had to cease taking in any rescues at this time because where we were, we ended up being under water every time it rained, and ended up not having the amount of property that we were contracted to have.
I AM NOT PLEASED AT ALL, having to say no to taking in more horses, hence this plea....Ohana has found a place that will accept their property being used as a rescue, and actually are willing to work with us.
If there is anyone out there that would like to experience the joy that you get when you help those in need, please go to www.ohanahorserescue.org and donate. We will use all donations to relocate to enable us to be able to bring in more horses in need.
We are a registered NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION now and have been for going on two years, and now well on our way with the 501c3 paper work.
We, as a horse community that reachs from all ends of the earth, if we work together, we all can help each other help these precious horses that are in need.
I have attached a link to one of several news articles about Ohana to let everyone know just what we are about.
http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/woefully-neglected-and-sick-horse-rescued/1077952
I have over 2000 friends on Facebook, if everyone could just donate one dollar, we all could make this happen...
Help Ohana help them!
Thank you and God Bless. |
Dragged/Cast Horse Needs Your Help!

We got the call well after 1:00 AM this morning. I answered the phone with my eyes closed but knew right away who it was by the booming voice-one of the AC officers in another county we work with. To be calling this late, it must be serious and it is. The horse didn't want to load for the owner and/or transporter so they hooked him up to a winch. Using a butt rope, they tried to drag him up and into the trailer. But he fought back and was cast under the trailer instead! He got up and fell down several times. He has lots of abrasions, cuts, and swelling. A vet was called by the owner to euthanize the horse but officers on the scene called us because the attending vet thought the horse has a chance for survival. The vet bandaged the rear legs with duct tape and towels and gave the horse Banamine. She said she thinks he can make the hour trip to BHFER but is concerned about damage we cannot see.
We are on-site, administered more Banamine, and the horse is resting comfortably. The transporter will be here at 1 pm.
He is a 20 year old TB, 1.5 on the Henneke scale. We need pledges to help this horse. After another exam, tests, and X-rays at BHFER, we will determine if he can be saved and estimate the costs. You can also call Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital directly at (352) 237-6151.
No donation is too small! Prayers are always welcome!
Sincerely,
Theresa

HUGE EMERGENCY!!!! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!!
Theresa just called and they are with the horse that was dragged/wenched into the trailer. He is 20 years old approximately, a 2 on the henecke scale, badly banged up in the rearend, not sure of any fractures yet, but he needs help!!!
The vet believes he can withstand the trip to the rescue, but without pledges Theresa can't take him, if we can't get pledges within the hour (no pressure here) he will have to be euthanized. He deserves a new life if he can have one.
Any amount anyone can pledge would be appreciated, you all know that. I will put a match of $20.00 to start it off. Please help if you can.

Dear Friends, I'm sending this to everyone. Please help me help Melody and the animals! This is a personal plea for a good friend of mine. Due to divorce and foreclosure Melody has only days left to raise needed funds to get her and the animals onto the new property. Below you can read some of what is going on. Also the chip-in link on her site has not been updated so you will need the new one to donate. Donations are tax deductible!

Fencing to Relocate Rescue
Organized by Peace At Last Farms Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc
Time's Running Out and Funds are slow going
We really need everyone's help on this. It only takes $5 if we all pull together. !000 people would give us $5000. It's going to take time to move everyone so we need this raised quickly like last month.
I've extended the chipin for longer but we're passed our time of need and need to raise funds as soon as possible. When they lock the gate it will be to late and I'm getting no word whatsover on the status of the property. We must get the new property basic setup for the animals so we can move them and begin working on the rest of the rebuilding.
Once they are moved the time crunch/crisis is eleviated. Until then the animals lives are at stake.
April 16 2:29pm
Please Help Spread the Word
The more people helping the better. We only need a small amount with many people involved. Please share our chipin far and wide. To learn more about us go to our website at
www.peaceatlastfarmsanimalrescueandrehabilitation.org
March 27 1:28pm
Can you spare $5? 1000 people donating $5 we'll reach our goal.
We need to raise $5000 to have the crucial fencing installed to relocate the animals. The rest can be done later once they are moved. I can't be in both places at once. If everyone donated $5 we could easily reach our goal with little burden on anyone. 1000 people donating $5 would do it! Please share this and donate its not but a cup of coffee. I have an installer standing by for the go ahead.
He has equipment that drives the posts which makes it more secure and goes up quickly. This is complete install including materials on the crucial fencing needed to relocate the animals. The rest we can do later either by him or I can work on it myself. As it is now it's not feasable or economical for me to try and do it alone. When I went on Sunday it cost $200 in fuel and gave me limited time due to travel. If I try and do this it'd take weeks if not months and a cost of $1400 week just in fuel alone. The installer can put it all up at once and it could be completed by a professional crew at less expense than I can do it myself.
Please help spread the word so we can raise the funds for this. It can be started next week if we can get the funds raised. 1000 people donating $5 iis all it takes. We can do this! If everyone pulls together. I have over 800 friends on facebook alone and you all have friends. I'm not asking for much, just help in a combined effort. Please do what you can for the sake of the animals.

COLT IN NEED
Good Morning, Everyone,
Theresa just called about a yearling colt that she visited last night. The colt is a bit underweight, has long elf type feet as well as an injury to his back left leg – he can’t bare full weight on it. The owner has fallen on hard times as is currently unemployed and simply cannot care for the colt and has asked for our help. The colt is living in a round pen with no shade or protection from the elements. We would like to bring the colt to Beauty’s Haven ASAP to be assessed by Dr. Das (she’s coming today) and if she deems it necessary, we will schedule an appointment with Dr. Ryan next week for further evaluation.
At the present time, we are seeking donations to cover the costs of Dr. Das’ fee of $125 as well as $30 for the farrier which is desperately needed. If additional blood work is needed that will be an addition fee. He will also need help with routine care. It is with great hope that this special boy’s injury is not life threatening and that he will be able to live a long and happy life. This colt is this year’s “Easter Save.” After seeing him, Theresa felt the need to get him to the rescue ASAP. Tucker and Red are going to their new home today so that frees up their paddock behind the barn.
Please consider helping us to help this boy. He’s supposed to be about 11 months old but looks more like a stunted 6 month old. Any amount of a donation would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible – God bless and thank you!
Thank you all for your love and support.
Jeanne
P.S. Theresa called the owner of the Paint Mare again yesterday to see if she would sell us the Mare's filly. The owner does not wish to sell the filly at this time.

Update:

Sent: Friday, April 22, 2011 3:03 PM

Subject: Colt update
We picked the colt up this am. We were told that he tried to jump a fence a few months ago but crashed and was injured - his back left hip/leg/foot are not right. The farrier came as an emergency call and did the best he could - the back left foot was horrible and it will take a few trims to get it right. There is infection but it is draining. This foot is smaller than the rest. Dr. Das examined him and says he needs x-rays so Dr. Ryan will be out next week to do that and to do blood work. The colt has been given something for pain and is being treated for ulcers.
He's enjoying the freedom of having a pasture with grass - he was living in a round pen. He has shelter now, some grass, a salt block, hay and feed, and a friend (Rebel). And he'll gets lots of TLC. He seems content. I'll post pictures and a more detailed update later - Red and Tucker are getting ready to leave - bittersweet. Thanks so much for caring and for helping. I haven't gone through all my emails yet but I know today's work was covered as is, most likely, Dr. Ryan's visit next week. We won't know until them what course of action will be needed - we need to determine what his predicted quality of life will be. We're praying for him - he's home for Easter! God bless and thank you all. Please check for an update and pictures later tonight.
Sincerely,
Theresa

Subject: Mustang Mare Flood Survivor
We have been contacted by Ashley Clark of the Daviess County Animal Control in Owensboro KY, regarding a mustang mare that was left stranded in a pen during the recent flooding up there. When they found her she was standing in water up to her chest with no food. Below is the information Ashley sent to us:
Well...I wish I could say that she was friendly but from what I have seen of her she has never been handled.
We initially became involved due to the flood we had here back in April/May. Her so called owner had her in a make shift pen for at least a couple of years. He was not home and when the water rose she was left with no food and forced to stand in chest high river water for days. I am really surprised she made it actually. She was underweight and very weak when we were notified of her. It took us 4 hours to get her to dry land due to the amount of flood water we had to take her through. We actually had to push her to deeper water so we
could get the boat up next to her to put a halter on to hold her head above water.
She is now in a temporary home as a favor to me. The people keeping her just provided her a place to go after the flood water went down because we had no way to catch her. She actually found them and jumped into their field with their other horse. She has been there about a month. They called this week and said she had to go. I am very fortunate they helped her this long.
I thought originally she was older but according to her brand if I read it right she is only about 9.
When we spoke with Ashley, she said the mare actually had to swim a mile and a half before they could get it out of the water. It's amazing she actually made it.
We have a place for her but don't have the money it would take to drive up and back to get her so we are asking for donations, however small, so we can get her down here.
You can make a donation to the Mustang Rescue through paypal or by sending a check to:

If you could pass this information along to people on your email list, we would appreciate it.
This would be a tax deductible contribution as we are a registered 501c3 non profit. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Spoiled Acres Rescue lost part of a barn from the storms last night

Julie Hahn Saylor of Spoiled Acres Rescue Inc lost part of their barn during the storms last night in Indiana. Lots of trees down. Please help them purchase a tractor to move hay, clean up downed trees and clean the barn with!
Julie Hahn Saylor of Spoiled Acres Rescue Inc: We lost part of the barn during the storms. Lots of trees down. Please help us purchase a tractor to move hay, clean up downed trees and clean the barn with. We spent the winter with the hay at the top of the hill because we had no way to move it to the hay barn. Because of that, we lost some hay due to weather issues. Being non profit it is hard to come up with anything above and beyond hay and feed.

1. Horse Seizure Update - Please Read Below And Cross Post
Horse Seizure - 103 Neglected & Starved Mustang Horses
We have been contacted to remove up to 103 starved and neglected Mustang Horses from their current Owner. This is a large seizure and we are aware of this so we are asking for everyone's help. We are in the process now of getting as many people as possible to open their heart and home to at least one of these horses. We have Mommy Mares with little ones on their side, Bred Mares at various stages, Mares, Stud Colts and Stallions.
Thursday January 12, 2012 a Vet and two assistants will be going to the property and doing a head count to let us know how many of each we are dealing with. They will also be doing visual health checks to access each horse and their condition.
The property where the horses are is 2 1/2 hours south of Glenwood, Iowa. Until we have everything in place and we are ready to remove the horses we are not able to share the location for the safety of the horses and the Owner's rights.
We will try to answer all the usual questions that we receive when we do this type of removal.
1. The horses will be moved on a week-end. We do not know the date yet. But we will give those interested as much notice as possible.
2. Hay has been taken to the property but with the number of horses this will not last long. So the sooner we can move the horses the better off they will be.
3. We need experienced horse people to help us, adults only please. We need anyone who can rope from the ground, no horses will be allowed on the property other than those being removed. We will only rope those that can't be caught so that they can be removed and taken to safety.
4. Some of the horses are halter broke others are not.
5. We will need people to help watch the fence lines as the fencing is in terrible shape and it is barbed wire. We do not want any horses getting spooked and running through fences.
5. All size halters are needed along with lead ropes.
6. Law enforcement will be on the property to give us presence while we remove the horses for the safety of everyone involved.
7. The removal has to take place in one day so plan for a early morning and a late night. We want to be on the property as soon as their is daylight.
8. For those who can take a horse we will provide feeding instructions and any other instructions needed to deal with a starved and neglected horse.
9. All horses will be documented as far as body condition along with pictures taken before they can leave the property.
10. We need people to help document horses being removed and take pictures before they leave the property. All pictures taken on the property must be turned over to Hooves & Paws Rescue and cannot be shared with anyone for any reason.
11. If you can take a horse or horses but do not have a horse trailer please let us know that. We will arrange to have extra trailers on the property to take horses to their forever homes.
12. If you have a trailer and can provide safe transport please let us know that. We prefer two people in each truck that is pulling a horse trailer.
13. ****Stock Horse Trailers are best for moving these type of horses****. So please keep this in mind. Most have not been in a horse trailer as they were born on this property so they will load better without anything in their way going inside.
14. We suggest everyone bring one bale of hay. This will help with the loading of the horses.
15. We welcome any 501 (c)(3) Non-Profit Horse Rescue's to assist us if you have any openings for horses.
If you can't help us by taking a horse but want to help in any other way we ask that you contact us through Legs1212@aol.com (Legs1212 @ aol.com). Please be patient with us as we are working on many cases at this time and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
We want to limit our number of foster homes that these horses go to. We would rather have straight adoptions. No Horse Brokers will be allowed to adopt horses. These horses should only go to forever homes or Qualified Rescues. These horses are NOT kid horses. But with time and love can be broke to ride.
Again, keep in mind we are still working with authorities and the Owner regarding removal of these horses. Our hope is that we can get them moved quickly, but that is not always the case. But no matter how long this takes we must have everything in place when we get the word that we can remove them. These horses are not in good shape and we do not want to loose any more horses than have been lost so far due to the lack of food and care.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give us and these horses that need a place to call home.

I posted this on my page as well. URGENT!! I am hoping for a miracle for Patches. He was rescued from a bad situation and was emaciated. He has now gained much needed weight (pic is older, so he looks better now), and has come a long way. He has been diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma of the "eyelid". The vet feels that with eye removal (approx 900-1,000) he would be ridden of the cancer. Patches is a Paint Gelding, 12 yrs old, not broke, but is more the puppy dog type of personality horse. He gets along well with
ponies and other horses. Loaded great in a trailer after not having any trailer experience in all his 12 yrs of life. He was rescued personally by myself and another lady not via USERL KY (whom I am with). He was placed in a home who wanted him but now with his diagnosis the people don't feel they can put any more money into him given that he is not broke to ride, etc. Myself and the other lady both have other rescue horses and personal horses and no matter how much we want to don't feel we can take in another horse.
Let me clarify before I would get bashed, I am willing to give up one of my other broke to ride rescue horses to another rescue so I can take in Patches, or help raise funds needed for him if someone good home or rescue can help him. I can't begin to explain how this feels as I've never been in this situation and the guilt is racking on me daily. Many have said considering his age, not being broke it is best to put him down. I figured I would give him this chance and see if there is a miracle out there for him. He deserves that. I have racked my brain trying to think of something to do so I am asking for help, suggestions or otherwise. If we had financial support for food, farrier, and could raise the funds, this probably would not be a problem, however, we can't put other horses at risk to save another, that isn't right either, so right now taking him in would be
selfish on our parts because obviously we don't want to see him put to sleep. Please cross post and have anyone interested contact me. Thank you and please pray for a miracle for Patches.

CHIP IN....
Guys... this rescue is ALWAYS taking in seriously battered and starved animals. This mare was tied to a mobile home with no shelter food and frozen water. She also has a very badly injured knee. They have spent tons of money on vet care and are really really struggling for money.... Just FYI... some of you may remember the "nail gun puppy"- this is the rescue that spent all that money on him and NEVER got any help with him either... PLEASE help them out if you can! Even if its only a little bit. Also, please pass this on to anyone who might be able to help find her a permanent home! She is currently in Murray, Ky... More updates about her age and potential breeds will be posted soon.

Laura,
Attached are pictures of this starved/injured horse that we rescued yesterday. She is going to need A LOT vet care and her knee is the size of a softball. I tried to create a chip in link so let me know if this works. Here
is the link and her pictures. I hope we can raise some money for her. She is a very sweet horse and so grateful to finally have a warm dry stall and food and water. If you don't mind, can you please forward this link and her info and see if we can raise some money for her vet care? It will be at least Sun or Mon before I can get any better pictures of her and her knee. These were taken by the neighbor the day that she called me about this horse.

A herd of 60+ Thoroughbred will be seized in the next day or so in Louisiana. All the horses have been starved, along with other animals on the property. A warrant has been issued for the man's arrest and it appears that for once that action will be taken against the owner.
Remember Me Rescue in Burleson, TX is working with the Louisiana Horse Rescue to help transport and foster these horses. They are in need of donations, people to help transport, and foster homes. Here is a link to Remember Me's facebook page and the LHRA's facebook page where more info can be found:
http://www.facebook.com/LHRA1
http://www.facebook.com/REMEMBERMERESCUE
You can find a list of the TB mares known to be on the property on LHRA's facebook page.Today will be the evaluation phase of the seizure - LSU vet school has volunteered to help with evaluations and treatments. Hard decisions will have to be made today for the ones that cannot be saved. Along with the 60 live horses there were numerous other farm animals including hogs, goats and dogs. The Sabine Parish Humane Society will be handling the farm animals and dogs. Please everyone say a prayer for the people working so hard to save these animals and the animals themselves. May there be many angels in Many, La today to watch over everyone.

Humane Society of Louisiana
Horse lovers: we need your help!!
Times are tough for horses in Louisiana.
Can you help us care for the victims of
abuse and neglect?
--
Minnie is a 30+ year old horse who was a victim of lifelong neglect. She came to us from St. Charles Parish Animal control and is now at our sanctuary, where she is at last receiving the food and care she needs.
--
The Humane Society of Louisiana receives more eyewitness complaints about cruelty to horses than any other animals, after dogs. With our chapters in rural Louisiana and our sanctuary, we are in a unique position to respond to complaints of horses in distress.
Sadly, it is increasingly difficult to place horses during these tough economic times. At the same time, the cost of rehabilitating and maintaining them are very expensive, ranging from pasture lease, to farriers, to training, in addition to feed and veterinary care.
--
Fury (above) came to us with his neglected Mom, Sauro, who had a rope embedded in her neck; he had never been handled and had cut a back tendon. Little Fury required 10 months of rehab and for a while, it
seemed he might never recover; he finally turned a corner after getting daily hydrotherapy. Fury's not a candidate for adoption or being ridden, but he's now living a happy life on pasture with his friend, Dixie and a bunch of donkey pals. We were happy that his Mom, Sauro, had been adopted, but we received a call just yesterday that her adoptive family sadly no longer wants her. We are now arranging to take her back into
sanctuary care.
--
On top of the costs of caring for abused and neglected horses, our area will be facing a serious hay shortage in the months ahead. This situation is the result of the wild fires and drought in Texas - much local hay has been shipped out to Texas to meet that state's demand. Apart from making it more difficult to feed our horses, this situation will also undoubtedly lead to an increased incidence of neglected and hungry horses this winter. To respond, we have had to utilize general operating funds of $3000 to stockpile hay for our own 10 homeless horses -- as well as our 7 goats and 2 donkeys who also depend on us for hay.
Can you please help us care for abused and neglected horses at this difficult time? Please donate by clicking here (http://www.humanela.org/donate.htm) or mail your check to
HSLA, P.O. Box 740321, New Orleans, LA 70174.
--
We gained custody of Pippi in a neglect case. She has 'parrot mouth' - a condition that requires regular dental care and sadly makes her less adoptable. She also has to be closely monitored to make sure she's getting enough food.
We are grateful for any help (http://www.humanela.org/donate.htm) you can give us!

With winter in full swing, and snow starting to fall, our horses would really appreciate a little extra hay in their bellies to stay warm. We and the horses would be so grateful to everyone if they would purchase a bale, or chip in for a round bale (5.75 for sq, 50 for round).
We use Long Horn Horse and Pet Supply in Buxton, and you can e-mail them (store@longhorn.me) or call them (207-929-6600) to place an order. You can also paypal us at havenforhorses@yahoo.com

Some people said he "wasn't worth it". Others said "just put him down".
When this little Belgian arrived, his gentle eyes begged for a second
chance!
He has one small problem: nobody could handle his back legs.
A jagged scar almost a foot long on the back of his right leg was a hint
he had something very very bad happen to him. Nobody really knows -- he
was dropped off at Knickerson's lot with his matching teammate. Someone
else paid their bail, preventing them from being shipped to slaughter.
Equihab found a home immediately for his teammate, Red. But nobody
seemed to be able to help poor Romeo.
Pro trainers were called. Nobody seemed to interested in a mishandled
(abused?) older horse. Several experienced volunteers did try to help
him, but they could't break through his mental wall.
Then this summer, the Rescue's farrier pointed us to a really sharp pro
trainer named Sam Smucker. Asking around, Sam's name always got positive
reviews from the vet and several other horse people. Romeo was put on
his waiting list, and today he was delivered.
So, with the help of a sponsor paying for Romeo's 1st week, he was able
to be sent to Sam. The good news is Sam feels very good he can get Romeo
over this. He demonstrated progress in just the short session he did
today. He asks for two weeks.
So, for Romeo, I am today asking you for one DAY:
One day of training board at Sam Smucker's is $24.00. Romeo's sponsor
has paid for his first week, but another 7 days minimum are needed. Will
you grant Romeo an additional day or two of training? We'd only need 7
people willing to share $24 each to give Romeo a second week! And with a
full 30 days at Sam's, Romeo should not only make him safe to handle on
the ground, but get him tuned-up under saddle and ready to hit the
trail.
Read more about Romeo on Equihab's web site
On behalf of Romeo, THANK YOU!
(And if you're local to Quarryville, PA, you would be welcome to join us
as we watch Sam Smucker work with Romeo. Just drop me a private message
& I'll give you directions & times)

Sheila with HAH took in 18 starving horses even
though she was at capacity. These are mares with foals, several
stallions so unfortunately all the mares are bred back if they don't
miscarry. She went to see what she could do to help but once she saw
this herd she couldn't turn her back on them knowing some wouldn't last
much longer. The owner surrendered the horses, delivered them and gave
her $1,000 check and sis gave $200. As you can imagine, after the
farrier, vet and initial purchase of foal-ac and mare and foal it's
gone. Please help her save these horses. She has 32 horses in addition
to those. She has a cryptorchid stallion having surgery this week ($600)
and had an arabian mare who had trouble delivering ($700) but who now
has a healthy beautiful filly. You guys do great work and we try not to
fund raise here unless it's an urgent situation. THANK YOU!!!
