Paint has an injury to left front leg joint is very swollen. Wandering horses Iowa need a home: September 21, 2010 Dear Family & Friends, We received a call from Mills County Sheriff's Department today about two horses they found walking down the road in Pacific Junction, IA. They spoke with a family who took them in their pasture until tomorrow and then we have to remove them and find a foster home for them until they can be adopted through our Rescue. They are both beautiful horses. One horse is a smaller sorrel with blaze, the other much taller looking more like a roanish appy with more white up front. They appear to be very calm and they have good weight. We have contacted several people in this area and they do not belong to anyone in the area. We are hoping they were not just let out of a horse trailer but this is happening more and more these days. The area they were walking in is a huge horse community. We are in desperate need of a foster home for both horses by tomorrow night. We will transport them tomorrow evening if we can find a foster home. We ask that you keep them in quarantine in an area for 4 weeks away from other horses until we are sure they are in good health. We will provide their shots & worm them as soon as they are in foster care. Please call Genea on her cell phone at 712-355-3721 if you can possibly help by fostering these two wonderful horses. The horse has a heart seven brand on the left shoulder. Patricia Mitchell left the horse @ this lady's place & hasn't been back. Patricia Mitchell is currently under investigation by Texas Rangers for internet fraud. I'm sure she defrauded somebody out of this horse we just need to locate the victim. (Note from Brandi: This is from a craigslist posting, so I don’t know anything more than what you see here.) 4 Abandoned Horses Location: Cowlitz County, Washington 4 Horses were found abandoned near the Land Fill at the end of Head Quarters road on Friday the 9th. The day before, another horse presumed to be one of the 32 wild horses in the area, was found dead. This horse was not only was shot to death, but was slaughtered, the hind quarters taken, probably for meat. 2 men were seen with the dead animal by an employee of Weyerhaeuser. When questioned by the employee, the men told him that the animal was hit by a vehicle and they were moving it off the road. When this employee returned suspicous of this activity (hind site is 20/20) he found the Horse dead of a gun shot to the head and the horses back half cut from it's body and missing. When a rep. for the wild horses responded to the scene, he was told of 3 other horses not far from the dead one who appeared overly friendly. When the rep. located the 3 and approached them, they did
not run and seemed very happy to have human contact. All 3 were under weight, had neglected feet but over all were pleasent in nature. They were easy to halter and were easy to load in the trailer. The 4th horse, a paint mare was found 3 days prior and about a mile away. She was more under weight than the others but seems to be making progress. These horses are all being fostered by a local family. These pictures do not show the full extent of the condition. There hooves are very long and all are very ribby. There winter woolies hide most of there bony protrusions. Even their winter coats are dull and thin with no downey under coat. 3 are mares and the black is a gelding. All ages are guesstimated between 8 and 14 and are between 14 and 15 hands.
